IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE
Operate the fire alarm by breaking the glass on the nearest fire alarm point.
Remove patients from any immediate danger.
If safe to do so attack the fire, take no risk.
Close all doors.

ON HEARING THE ALARM
A. CONTINUOUS TONE – Fire in your area.
1. Check your ward or department. Close all doors. Prepare to evacuate patients if signs of fire.
2. If no sign of fire send a member of staff to indicator panel to find out location of fire.

B. INTERMITTENT TONE – Fire in adjacent area.
Close all doors.
Send available staff to indicator panel to find exact location of fire.
Staff to proceed to ward/department entrance indicated to assist if required.
