If your organisation is just starting out, growing, or established we can provide a cheaper service than traditional recruitment agencies and a more in-depth and personal service than a traditional book-keeping firm. We can manage some or all of the accounting functions required as and when the need arises. This could be on a permanent part-time basis, a short-term temporary basis to cover an unexpected absence or unfilled vacancy, or as interim cover over a longer period as maternity cover for example.
Based in Wokingham, Berkshire, we have over 30 years of experience working within finance, from accounts assistant through to company director and business owner. Our speciality is working for companies predominantly as “the accounts department”, over-seeing every aspect of the day-to-day, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting requirements. We have experience working in the service, e-commerce, manufacturing and construction industries.
- Purchase Ledger Management – data entry through to payment runs.
- Sales Ledger Management – invoice generation through to credit control
- Cash Management – cash postings, bank reconciliations and cashflow forecasting
- Month End – P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations, production of monthly accounts, KPIs
- Payroll – weekly / monthly RTI payruns, NEST contributions, statutory forms as required e.g. P11Ds, P45, P60s
- Fixed Assets – maintenance of fixed asset register, additions, disposals and depreciation
- VAT – Calculation and submission of quarterly/annual returns through MTD, and handling HMRC inspections if they arise.
- Year End – year end reconciliations, production of annual pack for submission to your company’s accountants, liaising with accountants until finalised.

Before employing someone and spending lots of time and money along the way, talk to us. We will analyse your requirements and recommend how much of our time is required. We work efficiently and rates can be related to measurables such as invoices processed rather than for a fixed number of hours or days. By working flexibly and not being on your payroll, you will avoid the costs of National Insurance, Pension Contribution, and holiday pay. Also, we don’t take time off when feeling a bit under the weather, but if we did, that is at our expense not yours.
Initial Setup & Migration
You may have been prepared from day 1 with an accounting system in place. Many new and smaller companies however still rely on recording transactions in spreadsheets which is fine if the level of transactions is low, or find the accounts package they started out with is no longer robust enough.
In most cases we are able to migrate data from your spreadsheets or existing accounts software so that all your historical data is brought across and reconciled.
Sage, Xero and other packages
We have extensive knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts gained over 20 years, upto and including V26, and a solid knowledge of Xero so these are our preferred applications to work on but we are happy to learn and work with other packages also if required – fundamentally they all do the same thing.
For e-commerce sites we have worked extensively with WooCommerce, Freshbooks, merchant accounts and PayPal, as well as lesser known packages over the years for our own businesses and websites. More recently we have started working with Receipt Bank which is an absolute life saver for clients that like to deliver a box of receipts once a quarter.
We have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel also, which we use extensively for record keeping, reconciliations, management reporting etc…
